Is it Possible That We Are All Artists?

What if we assume that we are all artists? Is it possible that we all have creative gifts to share with the world? I've been reading The War of Art by Steven Pressfield and it's inspired me to look more closely at how we are all artists!

'When the artist works territorially, she reveres heaven. She aligns herself with the mysterious forces that power the universe and that seek, through her, to bring forth new life. By doing work for its own sake, she sets herself at the service of these forces.' - Steven Pressfield, The War of Art.

The beach my territory. I never wanted to be a part of the 5 am club, yet I now set an alarm to wake up at 4 am to get to the beach for sunrise.

Risking deer on the road.

Alone at the beach.

Wild animals surrounding me.

Breathing in clear sea air and taking photos of the rising sun.

This is where I would be even as the last person on earth.

This is where my creativity is found.

Ego traps us in hierarchy. Creativity lives in our territory.

A true artist is not seeking to be better than anyone else. They seek to share their work with the world, for the sake of the work. I've been working on this state of mind for a while. I continue to put my work out into the world and letting go of commercial success is the next step to truly becoming an artist. The Ego is what is attached to the outcome. Our soul has no attachment.

This book, The War of Art, is very helpful to understand the challenges of being a creative.

Which, by the way, we ALL are.

If you've ever started a business, or written a blog post; composed a photo or done some coding; there are endless ways in which we are creative.

Are you allowing yourself to lean into your creative gifts? I assure you, YOU are a creative being! We all have gifts, and what the world needs more of is YOUR unique and special gift. The focus of this site is to inspire you to Wake Up With Gratitude, as tomorrow is not promised. We hear this message often, but are we choosing to live like this?
